Tulips!
My favourite flower this week is the Tulip.A lover of the cold weather!
There is something cool about the tulip, they have this confident energy! They can hold their own...no need for them to be mixed with any other variety of flowers in a bouquet. A stunning bouquet of Tulips always looks incredibly elegant and crisp. Tulips come in so many colours now. I must say its kinda exciting...
Here are some quick crazy facts about Tulips:
- Tulips actually belong to the Lily family and are relatives of the family that include onions.
-Tulips are edible -- or, at least, parts of them are. The petals are said to range in taste from "a mild bean-like taste, to a lettuce-like taste, to no taste at all." I should mention maybe dont chomp on the next tulip in sight, it may have been sprayed with some weird chemical!
- Unlike any other flower, tulips still grow as a cut flower.The process is known as phototropism.
- Tulips get really thirsty so you need to keep an eye on their water levels on a daily basis. They thrive on clean water so change the water every day to get maximum time with them.
-Tulip flowers are considered to be a symbol of perfect lovers, their passion, love, romanticism and dreaminess. ohhhhh so sweet!

You and your Wedding Bouquet.
Your floral choices should complement your wedding theme and the hero of the day by far is your bouquet. No matter what your budget is, you can have super lush blooms.
When choosing flowers for a bride, i take into consideration her personality and the colour scheme of the wedding, then suggest flowers that are in season and looking their very best.
There are some brides that know exactly what they are after and then you have the complete opposite.
Dont stress if you do not know the difference between a hyacinth and an oriental lily.... this just means you need to take some time out with a pen and paper and nut out some ideas. What colours inspire you? Do you like the relaxed "picked from grandma's garden" look or a little more stylised with structure?
Create a mood board with everything you love and what brings you happiness. This process works wonders with any design concept. It is also a great help when you are trying to explain your idea's.
Consider the style of your dress.... is there lots of beading and detail? If that is the case than i would go more classic,elegant with the flowers.Maximum two varieties of flowers as you dont want to take attention away from your lush detailed bodice. Also too much detail and colours can look messy and confusing.

Its funny...Weddings are supposed to be filled with love and happiness. Smiles and laughter...hugs and kisses!So it seems... I would say 90% of the time soon to be married couples are so frazzled when they come in to talk flowers i always feel the need to give the poor love's a hug! So much pressure to make the big day perfect. Last week I met with a gorgeous girl to chat about her wedding flowers. We sat down with a cup of tea and I asked casually "Hows the planning going?". She burst into tears. mmmm oopsy....What should be a fun and exciting time has become her worst nightmare..... Aunty such and such wants her to wear White (Ivory is just too crazy), Grooms mother wants to change the reception venue because the lighting just isn't right, Her sister has decided she hates the bridesmaids dresses and is continually emailing alternative dresses, her dad is so angry because she isnt getting married in a church and her and her fiance are not on speaking terms which she cant remember why. Oh and she is lost because she isnt a rose fan and everyone is suggesting roses for her bouquet.mmmm.... She is mentally exhausted and wants it all to be over and done with.
Strange but true...but at the end of the day its a celebration of two unique people who have come together in this crazy life. Whats with everyone bombarding the couple with the do's and dont's??
Couples out there, you're not alone. Every couple goes through this one way or another!
If things arent 100% perfect on the day the world isn't going to explode! You are going to have fun....and so is everyone else! At the end its all about love and loveliness.

Us girls at Miss Poppies are a little fanatic about tea. So much so that we created our own line of loose leaf tea. We've got 15 different types, but this week we are particularly fond of the fruity Scarlet Sencha (green & black tea with yummy little bits of raspberries, strawberries and red currents) and the slightly spicey Choppy Chai (black tea, ginger, cloves, cinnamon & cardamon pods). It is starting to feel a lot like winter around here so here is what we are sipping away at!
